Marbella is taking another important step towards connecting its coastline with the development of a new section of the Senda Litoral in the east of the municipality. The project, located between La Morera and Bahía de Marbella, will improve access to the beach while also restoring an important dune ecosystem.
The new project represents another milestone in Marbella's long-term ambition to create a more continuous coastal route, providing residents, visitors and property owners with improved access to some of the municipality's most attractive beaches and natural areas.
A New Coastal Path for East Marbella
The planned section of the Senda Litoral Marbella will be situated in the Los Monteros area, connecting the car park on Calle Realejo, close to the La Morera residential development, with the western roundabout of Bahía de Marbella.
The new route will extend for approximately 260 metres and will include a bridge crossing the Arroyo Realejo. The project is designed not only to make the coastline easier to access but also to improve the surrounding environment.
According to the project information, the works include a three-metre-wide wooden walkway, a 32-metre wooden bridge, improved beach access, lighting, benches, bins, signage and a public toilet facility.
The works were put out to tender with a base budget of approximately €863,547, while the wider project has been reported as costing just over €1 million. The planned construction period is four months.
Where Will the New Senda Litoral Section Be?
The route will run:
La Morera → Arroyo Realejo → Bahía de Marbella
This is particularly significant because much of Marbella's existing seafront walking infrastructure is concentrated around the town centre and western areas. The new eastern sections are intended to gradually close this gap and ultimately help connect Marbella's coastline with neighbouring Mijas.
Environmental Improvements to La Adelfa Dunes

In July 2026, the town completed another section in Bahía de Marbella, Las Chapas, installing a 30-metre pedestrian footbridge together with public toilet and lifeguard facilities. The new work connected the existing path with the roundabout near the beach at the end of Avenida Príncipe.
Further improvements have also been made to the coastal infrastructure around the Dunas de Artola, where 1,250 square metres of walkway were renovated to improve safety and protect the sensitive natural environment.

Once construction begins, the planned execution period is four months.
