A major residential development in Orihuela Costa is edging closer to completion as the long-anticipated Las Vistas project enters its final stages, marking a significant milestone for one of the largest new-build schemes in the southern Costa Blanca.
The development, located between Punta Prima and La Zenia, has been gradually taking shape over recent years on one of the last remaining large coastal plots in the area. Once fully completed, it is expected to deliver more than 2,000 homes alongside landscaped areas and new infrastructure designed to support the growing local population.
First phase construction gets ready to begin
Developers have now advanced plans for the first phase of construction, which will include nearly 200 residential properties. This stage is awaiting final technical approvals before building work can officially begin, signalling a key step forward for the long-term project.
Much of the essential infrastructure has already been installed or is close to completion, including drainage systems, electricity networks, water supply connections and street lighting. This groundwork is essential for enabling full-scale residential construction across the wider site.
A large-scale coastal urbanisation project
Las Vistas has been designed as a large mixed-use residential development with a strong focus on open space and environmental integration. A significant proportion of the land has been allocated to green zones, pedestrian routes and landscaped areas intended to reduce density and improve liveability.
The layout places residential buildings further inland while preserving open corridors closer to the coastline, aiming to maintain visual openness and limit the impact on the surrounding environment.
The project is being developed by established construction specialists Gomendio, who have been involved in several major residential schemes across Orihuela Costa and surrounding municipalities.
Continued demand for Orihuela Costa property
Orihuela Costa remains one of the most active property markets in the Costa Blanca region, driven by strong demand from both Spanish residents and international buyers.
New-build homes in the area are particularly attractive to northern European buyers, many of whom are looking for holiday homes, retirement properties or long-term investment opportunities in a coastal setting.
The location of Las Vistas adds to its appeal, with close proximity to established urbanisations, beaches, golf courses and shopping centres such as La Zenia Boulevard. Over the past decade, the area has seen steady expansion in both housing and services, strengthening its reputation as a key residential hub in southern Alicante.
Planning focused on long-term growth
A key element of the project is its emphasis on structured urban planning and sustainability. Large green areas and pedestrian-friendly connections are included in the design to ensure better integration with surrounding neighbourhoods.
Planners have highlighted the importance of balancing new housing demand with environmental considerations, particularly in coastal zones where development pressure remains high.
Once complete, Las Vistas is expected to become one of the largest residential communities in Orihuela Costa, reshaping part of the coastline and adding significant housing capacity to the region.
A major step forward for the Costa Blanca housing market
With infrastructure largely in place and the first phase nearing approval, the project is now entering one of its most important stages. Construction is expected to begin shortly once permits are finalised.
As demand for coastal property in Spain continues to grow, developments such as Las Vistas highlight the ongoing expansion of the Costa Blanca housing market and its continued appeal to both domestic and international buyers.
